If I got 88.4% in class 12 and I want to pursue btech should I go for preparation to crack IIT or get admission in some private college..?
Riya taking a year drop and the preparing whole year with full determination, confidence and focus, keeping yourself apart from all the distractions and having only one goal of getting into IIT is always a better option than going into private college now.
With your 12th board exam you are eligible for JEE Mains exam and to get into IIT you will need to first clear JEE Mains exam and the clear JEE Advance examination with a good rank. Believe me the best thing about a whole year proper studies is that in the worst case if you are not able to crack IIT then also you can get some of the National institutes like NIT, IIIT via JEE Mains exam and even if not that then also the private colleges which you will have as an option will be much better than the one which you will be getting now.
If you really work hard for a year and you are able to crack in prestigious engineering college like IIT, NIT then this one year drop will not at all affect your life but it will shape your whole career in an extremely good way.
So, believe in yourself, plus you don't have a financial crisis (I mean you can attend some good coachings) then with full confidence start your preparations for IIT. With your 12th result, you seem to be a smart student, with hard work you can definitely achieve a very good result.
Feel free to ask if you have any more queries. All the best!!
But may be I think my parents want I pursue my btech from some good private college:-!
It totally depends on you. Since you have scored 88.4%, I assume you are good in academics.
If you want to crack JEE Advance for admission into IITs,you should have a good grip over fundamental concepts. You can prepare this exam in 2019 by taking coaching in reputed names.Prepare a study plan and stick to it. Take help from your teachers and friends.Manage time well. One year is difficult but not impossible to crack this exam.Obviously getting a brand name like IIT will help you in getting jobs or future studies. So it is worth preparing for. But many students give up hope and end feeling frustrated because it is tough.
Taking admission in private colleges is not bad, but you have to work hard for the same job. Also there will be less opportunities available to you. But that is not always the case.BITS Pilani ,BIT Mesra,VIT Vellore,Thapar University are good private colleges.
