If you have the OBC-NCL certificate, you will be allotted a seat in the OBC category, else you will be considered a general candidate, and your seat will be allotted in the open category.

Hi Kartikey, IIT or NIT take admission based on your category rank.if you belong to OBC then they considered OBC criteria otherwise they follow your GEN rank.
note: if you belong to OBC category then you have proof to show your category.
