$ herefore$ The smallest possible value of $y$ is 2.
Now $72 x 8431y 4$ becomes $72 x 84312 4$
As it is divisible by 9,
$7+2+x+8+4+3+1+2+4=31+x$ is divisible by 9
⇒ $x=5$
$ herefore x=5, y=2$
$(\frac{x}{y}-\frac{y}{x})=(\frac{5}{2}-\frac{2}{5})=\frac{25-4}{10}=\frac{21}{10}=2\frac{1}{10}$
