If there are low number of seats in all nits, iiits, gftis, then in jossa counciling how can 2.4 lakh qualified students can get seat???
I pity on your assumption who believe JoSAA offers quite less seats.
Considering 31 NIT's, 21 IIIT's and over 20 GFTI's creates over 30k seats for the students to occupy. Due to these large avaibility of seats, most often only 80-85% seats are occupied and rest all are vacant.
Also I've seen even General category students getting a seat at NIT's at overe 65k rank, all due to uge avaibility of engineering seats.
Now addressing your question, JoSAA wants to provide an oppurtunity to all the students who even hold a very tiny of the chances so that those students can also have a first hand experinece of counseling and all can identify their standing across the nation. This will ultimately be benificial for there following attempts and also boosting their confidence.
