A medical degree in Bachelors in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) has gained much importance in recent times and opened up as a lucrative career options for candidats pursuing the course.
BAMS is an undergraduate degree in Ayurvedic System of Medicines. The course is for a duration of 5.5 years. It consist of 4.5 years of main study and one-year of compulsory internship.
Eligibility Criteria for admission to the course is same as the criteria for MBBS Course. Admission is done on the basis of scores in the NEET UG entrance examination.
National Eligibility-Cum- Entrance Test (NEET) is the national level undergraduate exam for admission to all the AYUSH couses available in the country.
Eligiiblity Criteria to apply for NEET exam is
- Candidates must qualify the Class 12th examination (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects to appear for the exam. Candidates are required to pass in all the subjects individually.
- General category candidates must have 50 percent aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subects. Relaxation in the marks is provided to candidates belonging to the reserved category. Candidates belonging to the reserved category including the PH reserved should have 40 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology in aggregate.
Physically Handicapped candidates should have 45 percent aggregate marks.
- Minimum age limit of the candidate is 17 years.
- There is no specific number of attempts to appear in the exam.
You will have to appear and qualify the NEET exam to get admission in BAMS course.
