Comprehensive Guide: IIT's | NIT's | IIIT's | Foreign Universities in India
Dear Pavan,
It does not matter whether you are from any other college or not. What matters is that you will not get any direct admission in NITs/IIITs/GFTIs or IITs. For admission to IITs through JEE Advanced, you need to first appear in JEE Main, and qualify in that being in the top 2.24,000 candidates and then take JEE Advanced and qualify in that for IIT Admission. However, in your class 12th, you have to have 75% aggregate marks (General Category) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or should be in the top 20 percentile of your respective class 12th board. Reserved category candidates must have secured 65% aggregate marks in class 12th/equivalent qualifying exam.
Besides this, you need to meet the eligibility criteria related to age, number of attempts for JEE Main and JEE Advanced. You can only take JEE Advanced for IIT admission if you have passed class 12th in 2017 or are appearing in 2018 or if your 12th results of academic year 2015-16 were announced after June 2016, then you can take JEE Advanced. A candidate can take JEE Advanced a maximum of 2 times. Also, you must be born on or after October 1, 1993 (For Gen category), while resereved category candidates must be born on or after Oct 1, 1988.
