I'm completed M.sc counselling and psychotherapy at TNOU and also completed Dialectical behaviour therapy and behaviour therapy course with 4 years and 6 months experience of a psychologist. Am I eligible to pursue pdcp
For the first question regarding eligibility to pursue PDCP after completing M. Sc in Counselling and Psychotherapy from TNOU, along with additional certifications in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Behaviour Therapy and more than 4.5 years of professional experience, it is important to understand how PDCP programmes work in India. The Post Diploma in Clinical Psychology (PDCP) is a Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)–regulated qualification, and eligibility is very strict. In most RCI-approved institutes, PDCP is open only to candidates who hold an M. A./ M. Sc in Clinical Psychology from an RCI-recognised institution, along with the required supervised training. Even though your academic background and work experience are strong, an M. Sc in Counselling and Psychotherapy—especially from an open university like TNOU—is usually not considered equivalent to an RCI-recognised Clinical Psychology degree. As a result, you are generally not eligible for PDCP at present. To become eligible, you may need to pursue an RCI-recognised M. A./ M. Sc in Clinical Psychology or a bridge programme approved by RCI (if available). It is strongly recommended to verify eligibility directly from the official RCI website or the specific institute offering PDCP, as RCI norms are mandatory for professional clinical practice in India.
