Dear Pushpa, to serve as a Doctor in the Armed Forces in India, you need to study in AFMC, Pune. To start off, you need to take have Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as core subjects in your 10+2. Not just have those subjects but for being eligible for NEET, you should score a minimum aggregate of 50% if you fall under General Category and 45% if you fall under Reserved Categories. Why NEET? Because NEET is the only entrance examination that AFMC accepts and it doesn't have its own entrance examination. Not just AFMC, apart from AIIMS and JIPMER along with NEET, there are no more entrance examinations. And you should be 17 years old atleast by December 31st of the year you are appearing for NEET. Once you qualify for NEET, AFMC also has its own qualification criteria. AFMC will release its application form and DGHS (Directorate General of Health Services) is responsible for counselling of AFMC. Now for applying for AFMC, you need to pass your 10+2 with a Mathematics as a compulsory subject. As a male candidate your ideal height and weight should be 157.5 cma and not less than 47 kgs. The counselling process with AFMC includes English Language Test, Logical Reasoning Test and Psychological Assessment followed by Personal Interview. Admission is subjective to medical test. Either yiu are deemed Fit or Unfit based on the evaluation and the parameters. Candidates should be unmarried and should not marry during the tenure of this course at AFMC.
