This depends upon college to college and even from department to department. Your college may conduct online semester examination, or may not depending upon their wish. You may know this from your college/university.
Many of colleges devided to go for online exam like colleges in DU. many IITs and NITs won't go for it, they will conduct pen and paper based after opening.
