In jee advance 2019 I have answered a question as "2" instead of 2.00 and 8.1 answer is 8.12 .Not written upto 2 decimal will I get marks
Hello Poonam
Almost half the students have made this 'mistake' and trust me it's very normal to do this. However, the instruction booklet clearly stated ROUNDED OFF TO SECOND DECIMAL PLACE (in boldface black)! Now if you have subscribed to any online problem solving portal , you already know that generally rounding off is not that big of an issue. Like for instance, if you write 0.6666666 as 0.7 or 5.000000001 as 5, it is still considered correct (however if you write 1.25 as 1 it's wrong.. Obviously). So my guess is that the evaluation system would be equipped to recognise 7.00 and 7 as one and the same.
This year the examination authority of JEE has announced that marks will be given if you do not mention the decimals for a whole number which means 2 will be considered an acceptable answer in the place of 2.00.
However, if you have written 8.12 as 8.1, you will lose a mark for that question.
Hope this helped solve your query,
