The total number of seats in IITs, NITs and IIITs that are allocated each year based on JEE ranking by the JOSAA are 10988, 17808 and 3343 respectively.
For IITs ranking is based on JEE Advance rank.
For NITs and IIITs it is based on JEE Mains rank.
