In the presence of PbSPbS and ZnSZnS in a mineral, the froth flotation process requires NaCNNaCN becaus
Hello,
NaCN is called a depressant in the forth flotation process.
It is used in the forth flotation process of two sulphide ores (say, PbS and ZnS) to selectively prevent one ore from forming the forth.
That is, since both the ores have the tendency to form the forth, we add NaCN, so that only one ore forms the forth. Hence we can collect the forth and separate the ores.
Hope this helps
Thanks.
