There is no any difference between them
MAT can be written four time a year
Its score is valid for one year only....
if u write in December 2017 it is valid till December 2018
If u write in May 2018 it is valid till may 2019

That's it there is no any difference between them
If u are willing to get admission in year 2018 then it is good to attened in December 2017
