Hey Mohammad, hope you are doing well. Cutoffs for any of the institutes like NITS, IIITS, GFTIS is done on the basis of rankings only maybe category wise or maybe common list. Top IIITS like Bangalore, Hyderabad might consider marks instead of rankings but this year it might change. Hope it helps!! Good luck!

The merit list and cut-off for NIT are on the basis or rank. Your rank directly translates to your marks, so admission in on the basis of marks also indirectly. While taking part in JoSAA ranking, to get admission into NIT, only your rank is considered not the marks.
