Is bba required to do MBA or is any other course also enough?if I have a Btech degree now how many years will it take me to finish my MBA?
Hi Ashiq
MBA degree is mainly aimed at giving the students knowledge about business management and has mainly three sub specializations namely Finance , Marketing and Human Resources. Now to answer your question in short , I would say that it is not compulsory to have a BBA degree to be eligible for doing an MBA . However you need to ensure the following points before considering doing an MBA.
FOR DOING YOUR MBA IN INDIA
- You must have passed your 10+2 exams along with UG degree which should be a full time program of minimum of 3 years with a minimum percentage (as stated by the B School you are applying to).
- You have to clear a B school entrance exams like CAT , XAT , SNAP etc for being called for the GDPI (Group discussion and Personal Interview) and WAT (Written ability Test) rounds of the B school.
- Having a little work experience of like 1 or 2 years may come as an added advantage.
- Overall try to maintain a good profile.
FOR DOING YOUR MBA ABROAD
- You must have passed your 10+2 exams along with UG degree which should be a full time program of minimum of 3 years with a minimum percentage (as stated by the B School you are applying to).
- You have to clear the GMAT exam along with the TOEFL/IELTS exam. Check the minimum scores of these tests that the B school you are applying to wants from the candidate.
- Prepare your resume
- You have to write an essay as per the topic stated by the B School.
- You also must have your letter of recommendations along with your Statement of Purpose.
- You also have to submit a copy of your transcripts when you are applying to the B School.
- B schools abroad require a minimum of 2 years of work experience
These were the key points to be kept in mind while applying for an MBA program abroad or in India.
Now to coming to the second part of your question , since BTech is a four years course , you are eligible to do a full time MBA. A full time MBA program takes two years to complete. In India , an executive MBA program at IIMs takes one year to complete. But that course is only for experienced professionals who have a minimum of five years of work experience in management roles and other professional roles post graduation.
I hope I have been able to answer your query and my best wishes to you for your future.
Thanks
