No its a totally wrong information you have. CAT and IIMs are open to graduates across all and any college. The percentage of candidates from IITs vary each year and in each IIM, and no estimate will be close enough in this case. Hope this helps!
Exam is not limited to IITians or any other particular stream.
Students graduating in final year or grudauated from reputed and Accredited University are eligible from any stream with minimum 50% aggregate marks.
