No dropping a year doesn't affect admission into foreign University but you have to utilize the time very effectively and prepare thoroughly for the entrance exam if at last you don't get admission into your desired college then the year drop is futile.

There will no affect for dropping one year for your preparation.
There is no loss.
But if you are giving one year for your preparation.then prepare thoroughly to get admission in reputed colleges.
Otherwise To drop is just waste.
