Is galgotias University worth joining for B.Sc (hons) microbiology ? how's the faculty and labs there?
For BSc Hons Microbiology, I think Galgotias can be worth considering if you are interested in practical work and want to continue into research or higher studies. The programme covers areas such as molecular biology, immunology, industrial microbiology and biostatistics, along with practical and research-based learning. The university also has a 4-year Hons with Research option where eligible students can take up a research project or dissertation under a faculty member.
The faculty also has people with research backgrounds in microbiology and related fields. For example, the current Head of the Department of Life Sciences has research experience in microbiology, molecular biology, biotechnology and proteomics, including postdoctoral work at Indiana University. So I would say the academic and research environment is worth exploring, especially if you plan to do MSc, research or work in biotechnology and related areas. I would still visit the labs and speak to current students before making a final decision, since your actual experience will depend on the faculty and facilities available to your batch.

Galgotias University is a good option for students interested in pursuing B.Sc . (Hons.) Microbiology. The program offers a balance of theoretical learning and practical laboratory work, supported by experienced faculty members who guide students through academic and research activities.
Students also benefit from workshops, seminars, internships, and project opportunities that help strengthen practical knowledge and prepare them for higher studies or careers in microbiology and life sciences.
Yes, it's a solid option if you're serious about microbiology. The labs are genuinely equipped for hands-on work — you get real exposure to microbiological techniques, culturing methods, and lab-based research rather than just theory, which matters a lot for a science course like this. Faculty are experienced and approachable, and several are actively involved in guiding students through dissertation work and research projects, not just regular coursework. There's also a good push toward extracurricular academic activities throughout the year — seminars, workshops, and research exposure alongside the syllabus. Placement-wise, it's a smaller pool compared to engineering courses (since fewer companies specifically recruit for BSc. Microbiology), but the university does have connections with pharmaceutical companies, diagnostic labs, and food industry recruiters, and it's a good foundation if you're planning to go for MSc. or further research down the line. Overall — good labs, supportive faculty, and reasonable growth path if you put the work in.
