Yes GATE exam is both useful for the admission in MTech courses as well as for recruitments directly in some of the PSU (PUBLIC SECTOR UNITS).

Yes, GATE will be useful for admissions into M.E (Masters in Engineering). Many institutes offer admissions into their M.E programmes on the basis of GATE scores or give more preference to GATE qualified candidates.
