It's a great option to be honest, you can go ahead and pursue economics honours after graduation as it is currently high in demand and economist are paid good money in India and everywhere else.The course is structured in a way that it will expose you the basics of economics in the beginning, how economy works  on an individual level and aggregate level. Y ou'll learn about aggregate economic indicators in India, how economy in India works, policies in India post Independence period so it's also an interesting subject and woth the time and effort.
