Percentile is different from percentage therefore jee percentile can not be calculated by averaging.
The percentile tells you the percentage students scored less than you.'So in any particular subject it tells you the percentage of students scored less than you in that subject. In case of NTA Score it tells you the percentage of students scored less than you in terms of total marks.
