NO, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ARCHITECTURE FIELD, THEN ONLY YOU SHOULD WRITE PAPER 2.

No. It is not compulsory to take both the JEE main papers. If you are interested in engineering, go for paper 1. If you are interested in architecture, go for paper 2. If you want to try your luck in both fields then you are free to appear in both exams. But it is not compulsory to appear in both exams.
