It's very tough to change the department after 1st year??

If you are studying in the 1st year of engineering course and want to change the branch after completing 1st year of engineering i.e in the 2nd year then you can change the branch in 2nd year if your CGPA in the first year is minimum 8.5 or above and there are no backlog in any paper of 1st year. If you satisfy the above eligibility criteria then you can change the branch after completing 1st year of engineering.

So, If you want to change the branch after 1st year of engineering then please contact the head of the department of your college. What is your branch in the 1st year. You not mention the branch name in the question. Do hard work and get a good marks because if your CGPA is less then 8.5 then you are not eligible to branch change after completing 1st year of engineering.

If you are able to score 80+ in your first year then may be your college allows you to change your branch.

You can consult the same at college admin.

Yes it can be depending on the behaviour of your college. Sometimes it's way easy. But as you wish for CSE thats a total opposite. As CSE is high in demand currently and more and more students want to be in CSE. It also depends on availability of seats. If no seats available you obviously will not get stream Change.
