Job Scope after B.Tech Biomedical Engineering
- R&D- Generally the R&D companies hire employees through campus placements from a small group of colleges. Good luck for that. The health tech industry in Andhra & Telangana is a bright prospect in future when it comes to R&D opportunities.
- Service- The job i am currently in. You get to learn a lot about the internal functioning of various medical devices. There are plenty of learning opportunities, trainings. The happiness you get after indirectly saving a life can't be measured. You'll be nervous at start but with right guidance service is the most satisfying job.
- Application engineer- The role of an application engineer is to explain to customer about the working of a specific medical device. Application engineers work hand to hand with sales team.
- Sales engineer- Sales of medical equipment are handled by the sales engineer. They have targets as well as incentives so it's a double edged sword.
- Hospital engineer- Every big hospital has a Biomedical department in which there are typically 5–6 engineers who are responsible to attend to emergency breakdown of any medical equipment.
There are various areas in which a Biomedical engineer can work. The salary at start is not appropriate for some posts but then again if you work hard & have right skills you can land a good job just after graduation. Don't get demotivated by people who say that Biomedical has no scope, or it's only about research. More than 75% of Biomedical jobs are occupied by electronics engineer just because talented Biomedical engineers switch their fields after graduation.

Options After B. Tech. Biotechnology —
- M. Tech / M. Sc. ( Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioprocess Engineering, Oncology, Food Technology and many more. ) Biotechnology is Research oriented field so you have lots of options after your bachelors in biotechnology. GATE is a good option for you to get entry into the best Indian colleges like IITs , IISc , NIT and other reputed colleges. (These colleges will give wings to your career). If you want to pursue your masters from foreign universities then you can prepare for GRE.

CSIR- UGC NET and DBT BET — You can give these two examination after your Mtech and Btech respectively and if you successfully qualify these exams then you will be eligible for JRF and Lecturership and can pursue your Phd. (Stipend offered by govt. 24000 /month) or can join any Institute as a Assistant Professor or Lecturer.
- Bioinformatics - Bioinformatics is also a best career option after B. Tech. Biotechnology as bioinformatics plays an important role in biomedical research. Research work in the area of genetic diseases and medical genomics is rapidly increasing and the future of personalized medicine depends on bioinformatics approaches. So, it will help you to find a better Job. Moreover, knowledge of addition tools like R, python, perl, tableau, and data analytical skills will help to find a good job. - Market Research Analyst - There are lots of Market research analyst jobs available in Health sciences domain. Skills required for this are - knowledge of biological terminologies, IPR, Good Communication skills and Data Analytical techniques and you can only learn these skills in B.Tech. Biotechnology while In B.phamacy or B.Sc. you can't. After B.tech. you can easily earn 300000–800000/P.A. as a market researcher in healthcare sector.
- Intellectual Property Right - You can pursue any Diploma or Master Degree in IPR and after that you will get a good Job in this field. You can also pursue LLB in IPR from IGNOU , NALSAR and IIT Kharagpur to become a IP Lawyer. Moreover, with increasing R&D expenditure globally demand for IPR specialist is anticipated to increase in future.
- Govt. Service Examination - I am mentioning this option because in btech you learn alots of Analytical, Statistical and problem solving techniques which will help you to get success in govt. services exams while in the case of B.pharm. or B.Sc. you have to make hard efforts to clear the examination.
