Well usually colleges abroad in most of the countries take admission in two different cycles, one being the fall cycle where the semester starts from August or September and the second one is Spring cycle where the classes start from February or March. So hardly you will find colleges with a July start.

Assuming that the country you are referring to is the United States, the admission cycle is a little different from what we are used to. Universities in the US offer 3 different academic sessions for student intake: fall, spring, and summer.

Along with this, there are three different ways for students to apply in the US: Early Admission Plan, Regular Admission, and Rolling Admission. The regular admission plan is the procedure followed every year by setting deadlines for applications. You have to apply within the timeline established for all the semesters (Fall, Spring and Summer). Early admission allows an aspirant to apply and fix his/her admission before the regular admission starts. Rolling admission lets you apply any time of the year, provided there are vacant seats. This is not recommended since good colleges rarely have vacant seats.

The fall cycle is most feasible for Indian students because of its alignment with our academic cycle. However, not all US universities offer admission in all the 3 cycles. Of the three, Fall and spring are the most popular time when admissions are open. The admission process of the three cycles does not vary, only the timeline for each cycle is different.

Fall (August - December or January)

The application process for fall begins one year before the joining date and witnesses the biggest rush from international students. Application forms are out by August or September the year before. This is the time to start looking for financial aid as well since the chances of bagging financial support are the highest. The deadline for submitting the forms is usually in December. During April to May, you will receive acceptance or rejection letters from the universities.

Spring (January - May)

The application procedure for Spring is more or less the same as Fall except that the procedure for fall starts a year before. The application process starts during September and the deadline for submitting the forms is usually November; the semester starts in January.
