First thing I want to make you clear that it is a fact that all the students are not placed from the lIT, particularly I am not only talking about the new IIT but this is also can the case with the older, but in general the truth is that those who prepare for placements mostly get Placed.

Now here comes the question of salary ,companies which visit different IIT for the same job profile offers the same salary. In case of domestic placements that is those students get a job in India the highest package range around 40 lacs per annum but don't trust the newspaper stories because even this 40 lacs or not in hand salary because this is a CTC package and which include many other things just as bonus and a lot of other things. In case of international offers which are offered by companies like Uber Microsoft they offers around 1.5 lakh US dollars which when converted to the Indian rupees it comes around 1 crore rupees annuallywhich often become the headline of newspaper in placement days that is in the month of December. But here is A bitter truth that the cost of living in US is roughly3 X compared to cost of living in India.

The placement begins from the 1st December onwards and as the days passes the packages goes down that is the companies which offers higher package are generally come in the initial days by the 9th or 10th days most of the companies ends there placement process. If you consider the minimum package then it can go as low as 6 lacs per annum even in IIT more ever companies such as Reliance even offer 6 lacs per annum in the PPO only ,therefore it seems very good when you read out the news paper headlines regarding the placement and packages at IIT but they are very few fraction of the students studying at IIT.

The lowest salary for the person who completed course in IIT is 8,00,000/- and the salary will vary with particular IIT and even it varies with individuals also

But in the IIT we can except the good packages compare to other colleges
