As of 2019, Maharashtra has around 9 government engineering colleges and 4 govt aided engineering colleges apart from other university institutes for engineering.
The government engineering colleges in Maharashtra follow a common entrance exam MHT CET conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra State for admissions in undergraduate programmes. Apart from this, the government engineering colleges in Maharashtra also accepts the scores of JEE Main, an entrance exam conducted at all India level. IIT Madras accepts only JEE Advanced scores.
