Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS) was established in 1969. It is a part of Gandhi Centenary Program, set up on the soil of Sevagram, Maharashtra. After the approval of the Planning Commission and with the blessings of the president and the prime minister of the country the institute was formed. In 2012-2013, about 70,900 attended the outpatient department of the institute.
