Don't get panic and degrade yourself. Whatever happenned is happenned. First make sure that your mind should be free of stress. Meditate for 5 or 10 mins.

According to me your professor was trying to make your project better as may be your project may take a few days. So he was trying to make you people awake and want to complete your project.

If professor really knows that project won't work, start working on it from now and understand mistakes and make it correct.

Doing something is Better than doing nothing.
