You haven't shared details as to which entrance exam/admission process you have applied for. That being said let me make sense of your situation.

You have said that in the 1st merit list you were included in the ebc category and in open category in second list. From what I can make out, you will be eligible for admission under both the category - open as well as ebc category.

Now, which one you should choose will most likely depend on the seat you are offered. My hunch is you will get a higher preferred seat in ebc category.
