It is usually not recommended to start from H. C Verma if your basics and numerical portions are weak. But, don't get disappointed. Let me tell you; start studying from the very basics of physics from the book S. L Arora. You will get a precise and easy to understand language in the book. This will help you clear your concepts. Once your concepts are clear, try out numericals from the same book. You will get conceptual ones in the book. Keep practicing and then, one day when you feel confident, go for H.C Verma and try it out. I m sure you will be able to do it:) Remember, practice makes you perfect. There's nothing in the world you can't do. Just you need to be firm with your basics. Hope this helps.

HC Verma for physics as per my opinion is more of a concept builder.It enhances your understanding of the topic very much and the problems at the end of each chapter does the same.While considering numerical portion in physics you need to be thorough with every formula.Key is practising more questions. HC verma in that aspect doesn't help with your problem.But it is an excellent book for understanding the concept.So do practice it,it will surely help you out.

Yes you should definitely solve H.C. Verma to improove your numerical solving ability. But first you should clear your concepts by your text book.

There is solved guide also available for H.C. Verma online, you may refer that in case you are stuck.

Solving H.C. Verma is highly recommended for JEE main as well as any other competitive exam.
