Metallurgy a sub branch of mechanical or chemical?
Dear,
Metallurgical Engineering , Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering almost have similar subjects but their field and the work is different.
Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgy is a 4 year Under graduate course. Metallurgical Engineering is basically the study of Metals. The Employment opportunities for the students are available in areas like Chemical and Metalurgical labs, iron and steel companies etc.,

You can think of metallurgy as mixture of both. It includes extraction part from chemical like process metallurgy, iron and steel making, non ferrous metals etcc. And many other thing from mechanical like deformation of materials, mechanical properties, heat treatment etc. You will even be taught some of mechanical subjects like heat and mass transfer and fluid mechanics.
So, one can consider metallurgy as part of chemical but has some significant courses of mechanical too.
Hope it helps
