Correct Answer: Rs. 156.25
Solution :
Let the money lent to Tom be Rs. $p$.
we know, simple interest = $\frac{\text{Principal × Time × Rate}}{100}$
So, $\frac{500 \times 8 \times 4}{100} + \frac{p \times 8 \times 4}{100}$ = 210
⇒ 160 + $\frac{32p}{100}$ = 210
⇒ $\frac{32p}{100}$ = 210 – 160 = 50
$\therefore p$ = $\frac{50 \times 100}{32}$ = Rs. 156.25
Hence, the correct answer is Rs. 156.25.
