I would advise you to take admission on te basis of the 12th scores not on the basis of jee mains score because through jee mains you won't be able to get through it.
There are chances for you to get lower branches in Thapar like mechanical,automobile, production. However various factors are considered while deciding the cut offs like number of candidates appearing in the examination, number of vacant seats in college, previous years cut offs and difficulty level of the paper.
