my brother belongs to general categorie and he got 82 percentile in jee mains what's the probability of qualifying advanced

JEE main 2020 cut off will be declared once the exam in concluded.In 2019 the cut off for general category is 89.7548 considering this there are less chances for qualifying in the entrance exam.A percentile 85 or above will give decent chances if qualifying.However, cut off is subjected to change it may increase or decrease slightly.So your brother must prepare well for JEE main July session and score above 85 percentile.

At this point in time, JEE Advanced cut offs havent been released yet. But a score above 85 percentile would be ideal. If your brother has scored 82 percentile, going by the formula 100-82*869010/100 where in 869010 is the no.of Candidates apeared for the January session, his rank would be approximately 71,000. With this it might be even difficult for a seat in NITs. So he might have to appear for July session as well.
