My daughter is giving HS exams in Arts and wants to get admitted in Presidency University, Kolkata in BA Hindi(h). Please guide me!
Hello Manish,
Thanks for sharing your query with us, I would like to help you out with every information that you need, so make sure that you go through everything carefully.
Also, I personally am a Presidency University graduate myself so I'll make every sure to provide you with every single detail.
Presidency University is one of the premier institutes not just in Kolkata but also in India. It has a record of great alumni and any student feels lucky to be a part of such an prestigious institution. It is situated in College Street in central Kolkata and offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree programs. Presidency University anually conducts entrance exams in which the students appear to take admission in this University. The entrance exam is called PUBDET for the undergraduate and PUMDET for the postgraduate courses. It is conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) and offers B.A Honours and B.Sc. Honours. In your case, your daughter will have to appear for PUBDET for B.A Hindi Honours.
B.A Hindi is a course over the span of 3 years and the maximum seats is 36 including reserved seats.
For your daughter to qualify she needs to have minimum 60% aggregate percentage in 12th from a recognised Board.
The entrance examination will be conducted offline (pen-paper test) the candidates will have to submit the applications online as well before the last date. The application fee will be Rs. 500.
The first step for her to be able to get into presidency is for her to score good marks in her HS that is first division. So I would advise her to focus completely on her Boards for now.
Also, her basic knowledge upto class 12th in Hindi should be good for her to score a seat in the Hindi department.
Also the language of the paper will completely be in Hindi. The exam will be objective type in which four alternatives will be given with each question. There will also be a total of 100 questions.
Objective type questions would require a thorough knowledge of Hindi language and grammar so make sure you prepare her for that well in advance.
I hope this solves your query, feel free to ask if you have more doubts.
Best of luck for your examinations.
Cheers,
Arpita Goon.
