IPS is an all india service,recuirtment to this is conducted by upsc through a joint exam for all central as well as AIS .upsc mainly releases notification for this exam in the month of june every get selected into Ips you have to appear the same exam but it needs hard work and dedication to qualify(as it is said mother of all exams).
Start preparation from july this year if you are planning to appear in next year.
1.Start from basics i.e ncert of classes 6th -10 th
2.Read some quality newspapers(mostly preferable the Hindu)
3.After completion of ncerts move to some standard books such as
economics(12th ncert(macro)+Ramesh singh)
History(bipin chandra(both India since independence and indias struggle for independence+culture(old ncert(civllization class 11)
Polity(laxmikanth)
Geography(ncert 11 +12)
4.Take some good test series and solve previous year papers
5.Simultaneously choose a good optional for mains.
5.You can also take help of some good sites such unacademy(youtube videos)
6.Finally revise,revise and rerevise because revision is the best method to retrive a lot in the exam.
