my obc caste certificate is 6 years old, and UPSC is not accepting that, today is the last day of registration should I put unreserved category and complete my registration as there is no reservation.
The OBC caste certificate is generally considered valid for one year from the date of issue if the certificate is a central government certificate. So you can apply in the unreserved category as there are no alternative options now.
Hello,
If your OBC caste certificate is 6 years old, it will sadly not be recognized as valid by UPSC, since the commission mandates that the certificate must be issued within a specific recent period (typically within the last 3 years from the application date). As today marks the final day for registration and you lack a valid and current OBC certificate, it's recommended that you proceed with registering in the Unreserved (General) category. This will guarantee that your application is submitted punctually, although you will not benefit from OBC reservation advantages like age relaxation or lowered cutoffs. Submitting your application is more crucial than completely missing the deadline. From now on, ensure you apply for a renewed caste certificate well ahead of future exams.
Hope this helps. All the best!
