My question to you is: for appearing in the NET (National Eligibility Test) or applying for government jobs, is a standard graduation degree (3-year) sufficient, or is an Honours degree (4-year) required?

It depends on the specific exam or job.

For UGC NET (National Eligibility Test): A 3-year bachelor's degree is sufficient to pursue a 2-year master's degree, and after completing the master's with the required marks, you can appear for UGC NET. A 4-year Honours degree is not mandatory. However, under the new education policy, some universities allow students with a 4-year Honours/Research degree to pursue a PhD directly in certain cases.
