Hi aspirant, with this rank he can get a seat in NIT but may not get his desired branch. I would suggest you to join the NIT with whatever branch you get because you can change your branch after 1st year. With this rank in JEE mains your son has quite some chances of getting a seat in some of the newer NITs for lower branches. He will definitely not get any top branches.
