My son secured a seat in an IIT through JOSAA. How ever he is not interested in that 3rd gen IIT and want to participate in CSAB to join an older NIT. Does he need to withdraw from JOSAA counselling?

Hello Dear Student,
He does not necessarily need to withdraw from JoSAA immediately. He can participate in the CSAB Special Round while retaining his allotted IIT seat as a safety net. However, if he is allotted an older NIT seat in the CSAB round, his IIT seat will automatically be canceled.
Hope it helps!
