my tooth is half broken but it's original. is I'm eligible gor OTA exam?
Hello Jyoti,
Combined Defence Services Examination is conducted for candidates who wish to pursue their career as commissioned officers in Navy, Air Force and Army after graduation or candidates appearing in their final year. CDS exam is conducted twice a year in February and November.
Candidates must be physically fit as per the prescribed physical standards by UPSC. They must be in good physical and sound mental health and free from any disease/disability that can interfere with the efficient performance of duties. Candidates are required to have a sufficient number of natural and sound teeth. A minimum of 14 dental points will be deemed acceptable (when 32 teeth are present, the total dental points are 22).
- Teeth considered essential or 'must haves' are given 2 points each - Molars
- Teeth which are not required for the efficient function of oral cavity are given a point each - Incisors, Premolars, Canines.
- From the six anterior or front teeth, four should be without any problem, having good opposite with good occlusion
- Out of the ten posterior teeth, six should be without any problem, having good opposite teeth with good occlusion.
So it is advisable to get a proper Oral Prophylaxis done before the Dental Examination and get any missing tooth or broken tooth replaced as they affect the points given.
Hope this helps you. We wish you the best for your future endeavours!
Regards
Its very specific problem and clearly not sated in the notification release for CDS therefore it is better that you appear for CDS and then appear for SSB interview, if you qualify the interview then comes medical test where you will be judged whether you are suitable for OTA or not.
