nitromethane or nitroethane, which is more acidic in nature?with reason
your answer is here -
Nitromethane is more acidic because,
The H of Nitromethane i.e. CH3NO2 is acidic because of the electron withdrawing nature of NO2 group. The nitro group withdraws electron density on carbon towards itself which weakens the C-H bond and so the cleavage of C-H bond becomes easy and thus H making the H acidic.

Hii
Nirtroethane is more acidic in nature than nitromethane. The reason for this is due to, the hydrogen of non near carbon to nitrogne is weakly attracted to nitrogen. And it is losely held. So, it can detach easily, as compared to hydrogen of nitromethane. And this result has been found experimently.
Hope it helps
