Nuclear membrane is absent in prokaryotic organisms. They do not contain a membrane bound nucleus and thus, their nucleus is called nucleoid. This a primitive adaptation. Eukaryotes contain membrane bound nucleus as well as membrane bound organisms. Both these things are absent in prokaryotes. Hope this helps.
