For B. Tech courses you need to be a PCM student or science stream student in your 10+2 board. Selection is done on the basis of entrance exams. JEE is also a entrance exam you can give other entrance exams such as MHT CET, TNEA, etc these are state level entrance exams and JEE is a national level entrance exam. Some universities take their own entrance exam.
