one of the college's ug application page asks me whether i am a first generation college learner and i didnot attend that question .is that question so important in a application..?

A first generation student is one whose parents or guardians have not attended a post-secondary institution. If your sibling has attended a college or university, but your parent(s) or guardian(s) have not, you are still considered a first generation student.
In other words, Being a first-generation college student means that you are the first person in your immediate family to attend college. It implies that neither of your parents has college degree.
