You haven't mentioned specifically if you are asking for B.Sc Physics or M.Sc or PhD. However, in most of the colleges, admission to Under graduation done on the basis of marks in the qualifying exam. Most of the physics related exams are for higher studies. Like IIT JAM for admission to IITs, NITs and IISER, JEST is conducted for admission to IISER, IISc, TIRF and other major research institutes, CSIR JRF for admission to MSc, Int PhD etc. Many central universities conduct its own entrance exam for admission like BHU, Delhi University, JNU, University of Hyderabad, CUCET etc.
