JKPSC is a civil service commission just like UPSC, but only for the Jammu and Kashmir state. The JKPSC KAS exam is conducted by JKPSC for appointment of able candidates to various civil services in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The JKPSC KAS exam conducts recruitment for the posts or services such as Junior Scale of J&K Administrative Service, J&K Police (G) Service, J&K Accounts (G) Service. To appear in the JKPSC KAS examination, candidates have to be between 21 to 32 years of age. The selection process of JKPSC KAS involves two stages – preliminary and mains examination. JKPSC KAS Prelims will comprise of two papers, namely- General Studies I and General Studies II. Both papers will consist of multiple choice questions having 4 answer choices. Every correct answer gives 1 mark while every incorrect answer deducts 0.33 mark. Maximum marks to be scored in each paper is 200. The marks obtained in the JKPSC KAS preliminary examination is calculated for shortlisting of the candidates for the mains examination.
General category candidates can appear for JKPSC KAS six times while all other reserved category candidates can attempt nine times.
