Established in 1881, St Stephen's College is an open college considered to be one of the oldest institutions in Delhi, India. It's part of the University of Delhi. The university focuses on liberal arts and science education. It was built by Samuel Scott Allnutt. It is a co-educational higher learning center, one of the country's top schools. Earlier, the Institute was associated with the University of Calcutta. Later, in 1922, it was counted among the three institutes of the University of Delhi. The college started its first class with five students and three faculty members.
Unlike any other college under the University of Delhi, the college has its own admission process. Students are expected to apply online through the application form. For entry to the undergraduate program, the minimum score for the qualifying exam must be 50%. To order to be accepted to a postgraduate program, the candidate must have a bachelor's degree. After the entrance test has been passed, the applicant will have to go for an interview. The shortlisted applicants are then asked to join the center. The college makes a 50 percent reservation for students in the SC category. The cut-off shall be fixed by the admission authorities of the institution.
Eligibility critera- The applicant must have studied physics, chemistry and mathematics at the appropriate stage. In addition to physics and mathematics, the applicant must have studied computer science / computer science or chemistry.
Class 12 marks for all BSc Honors courses (except Mathematics) and BSc Program courses: 85% Interview: 15%
The Written Aptitude Test will be carried out at 7.30 a.m. for candidates called for interviews in the pre-lunch sessions (i.e. interview sessions scheduled to begin before 1.00 p.m.) and at 1.30 p.m. for candidates called for interviews in the post-lunch sessions (i.e. interview sessions scheduled to begin at or after 2 p.m.).
Broadly speaking, the interview has the following components:
- The academic skill and suitability of the applicant for the chosen subject, beyond what the marks alone suggest.
- The prospect of engaging in the college's co-curricular activities and contributing to its entire life. The college has no specific quota for' ECA' (extra-curricular activities), but ECA skills are taken into account during the interview.
- The candidate's personal outlook, sense of values, level of awareness and motivation are considered. Questions may be asked about the statements on the admission form about himself or herself, his or her interests, objectives, etc.
- The lists of shortlisted candidates, along with their interview schedules, will be posted on the College website and the Notice Boards on 14 June 2019. Applicants called for an interview will receive a call letter from their registered email address. They can also generate a call letter from the College website for interviews.
