reservation for general category in jee mains
Hello Harsh,
JEE Main Eligibility has reservation criteria for candidates belonging to scheduled caste (SC), scheduled tribe (ST), OBC-NCL, women candidates and person with disability (PwD) category. Also, the reservation of seats through JEE Main is based upon state of eligibility i.e from where the candidate has appeared for the qualifying exam. This follows the parameters related to Home State and Other State Quota in terms of admissions offered by the universities.
The reservation percentage of categories for admission under JEE Main reservation are as follows:
- 27% for OBC
- 15% for SC
- 7.5% for SC
- 3% for PwD candidates
- 5% for women candidates
As you can note, there is no reservation for general category in JEE Main and Advance .
I guess that answers your question.
Dear,
In JEE or any other place Reservation is given to Sc, ST ,OBC ,Pwd ,NCL etc. There is no such thing called reservation for general category. As announced by government, the reservation percentage for
SC = 15%
ST= 7.5%
OBC(non creamy layer layer, annual income < 8 lakh)= 27%
Pwd= 5%
Economically Backward class=10%
After removing the seats reserved for all the above categories , the seats which are left are the seats for which the General category students compete along with the OBC creamy layer candidates.
